The 2015-16 DVCHC Women's Schedule Goes Live, Maps Season

Blades spraying ice, teams thundering support, the gasp of a final shot.

...that kind of excitement is still almost two months away.

For now, today's 2015-2016 DVCHC schedule release provides a road map for the drama ahead: a 97 game stretch over which 14 teams (and 250+ athletes), push to be the last standing on Valentine's Day, 2016.

A FEW HIGHLIGHTS:
* Every story has a beginning.  This epic will have its origins in civil war: UPENN vs ST JOSEPH'S for the storied Class of 1923 Arena.

* The standings begin to move October 10th when LOYOLA visits SLIPPERY ROCK and #1 ROWAN heads to #3 COLUMBIA.

* No games on Halloween but 2 local rivalries the night before: AMERICAN vs NAVY and VILLANOVA vs UPENN.  Get that post-apocalyptic Jackie Robinson costume ready.

* The DVCHC's East Coast Showdown is now one of the largest college tourneys in the US.  All but 2 DVCHC teams will be there to meet & compete, Nov 20-22!

* MARYLAND vs TOWSON Super Bowl weekend?  Yes please.

NEW RIVALRIES

Liberty University and Navy's D1 team have left the DVCHC to focus on ACHA-only schedules.  Navy was last season's runner-up, their absence could open a path for another to rise in D1.  Can any stand in the way of TOWSON'S attempt at a 3-peat?

D2 also loses a two-time, runner-up: the North Jersey Phoenix who are transitioning into a USA Hockey team & youth program.  Despite the loss, D2 has grown large enough to warrant a 'north' and 'south.'  RUTGERS and UVA join the group from D1 along with NAVY'S new D2 team - a sign of positive growth at the Academy.

Our vast schedule is the result of teams working across benches to shape something for everyone.  That collaboration of our 'ice princesses' epitomizes the heart of college club hockey, and we couldn't be more proud of their efforts here.

Save the dates, mark the calendars and get ready for an exciting road to this year's DVCHC title!
