The stage is set for champions to be crowned! The 2018 DVCHC Women’s Frozen Fair will be held this weekend at Centre Ice at the Delaware State Fairgrounds, where six Division 2 teams and four Division 3 teams will vie to take home the DVCHC titles.

Full brackets and schedules can be found here. Admission is free, but we will be accepting arts and crafts donations for Caitlin’s Smiles. DVCHC Frozen Fair t-shirts will be available for purchase, and tickets will be sold for the Hershey Bears game on April 14, taking place after our All-Stars and New Stars Game.

In D2, Montclair State and Rowan earned first-round byes as the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, respectively. Montclair State finished the season a dominant 10-1-1 in league play, closing the regular season with a 4-4 tie with Penn. Rowan took the second spot with an 8-4 record.

Penn comes in as the third seed with a 7-4-1 record to take on sixth-seeded local rival Villanova. The defending champion Wildcats went 4-8. The Quakers won both regular-season meetings, but each by just one goal.

Columbia took the No. 4 seed with an even 6-6 record, and the Lions will square off with Loyola, who finished 5-7. Columbia will be looking for revenge, as the Greyhounds took a 6-5 win in overtime last weekend in the final game of the regular season.

On the D3 side, Virginia cruised to the No. 1 seed with a perfect 10-0 record and is set to meet fourth-seeded Slippery Rock in the semifinals. Slippery Rock finished the season at 5-7. Virginia topped Slippery Rock twice, 8-2 and 8-4, in the regular season.

In the other semifinal, second-seeded Saint Joseph’s (6-5) and IUP (5-4-1) will do battle for a spot in the championship game. Saint Joseph’s and IUP split their meetings back in October, with Saint Joseph’s winning, 8-6, before IUP took a 5-4 victory the next day.

The D3 championship will take place at 1:40 p.m. on Sunday, while the D2 title game will be the Frozen Fair Finale at 3:55 p.m. on Sunday.
