Player Safety

DVCHC Player & Coach Expectations

The Women's DVCHC expects the highest level of sportsmanship from its athletes and coaches, and safety is our number one concern. Any player or coach found to be recklessly or intentionally putting the safety of other Women's DVCHC players at risk will be reviewed by the Commissioner, and may be suspended or made ineligible for a period of time to be decided by the Review Committee.

College hockey should be competitive, but FUN! We expect all players and coaches to be respectful to their teammates, opposing players, and all coaches, officials, rink staff, and Women's DVCHC representatives. The Commissioner retains the right to suspend any player who displays a blatant lack of respect towards another individual or team. Reported or witnessed incidents shall be reviewed by the Women's DVCHC, and players in violation of this shall be held accountable by the Review Committee. And if you feel another player (or coach) has been disrespectful, please do not hesitate to voice concerns to the Commissioner.

All Women's DVCHC players and teams are also expected to be good guests, cleaning up after themselves and dealing with rink staff in a professional and courteous manner.  Damage to hotel rooms or rink property will result in swift punishment from the league and possible expulsion.

COVID-19

The Women's DVCHC's policy regarding the pandemic situation is simple: our members and teams must follow their college/university's policies and guidelines to be eligible to compete. The Women's DVCHC will only allow members to compete if their institution permits the team to do so. If there are additional restrictions that your institution requires you to follow in order to compete, the Women's DVCHC requires you to do so.

All participation in the Women's DVCHC is voluntary. Every player and coach is required to review information regarding COVID-19 made available by the Center for Disease Control and understand that the risks and circumstances associated with COVID-19 are in constant motion, and continue to review information from state and federal health experts regarding how to behave during the COVID-19 outbreak. There are risks associated with participating in any ice hockey activities during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Accordingly, by registering with the Women's DVCHC, all players and coaches waive any and all claims of any nature whatsoever against the Women's DVCHC, its staff and volunteers, arising out of or related to any potential exposure to or contraction of the COVID-19 virus while participating in Women's DVCHC activities. All players and coaches must adhere to the policies and requirements of their specific college/university.
