D2 Most Valuable Player

#2 -- Carly Buckholz, UVA

#78 -- Danielle Eppley, IUP

Danielle Eppley was our most valuable player this year without question. She also functioned as team president.  In the net she was always there when we needed her and off the ice she was the engine that ran the team and kept everything together.  We quite literally could not have had a team or season without her.  She was exceptional in net all season and even when she was at her best it was never good enough for her. She constantly strives to be better.  We regularly had a short bench and most of our team was new to the game, our defensewomen were always trying their best but with only 3 at any given time they would understandably get tired and Danielle would be there to ensure that we always had a chance to win the game.

#1 -- Caitlyn Jasberg, AU

An MVP is someone who makes the team better.  Our MVP made us better AND saved us from folding.  Caitlyn's work as a president and treasurer is the reason AU had a team this year.  Presented with a large deficit, she fundraised more than any other club at AU and rallied fans to win the War Between the Skates.  She organized all our rides and hotels then worked with the school and rink when both talked of shutting us down.  Caitlyn never missed a single game or practice.  On a team with so few players, that meant the world.  Her abilities on the ice are light-years ahead of where she should be as someone who learned the game in college.  She picks up moves and strategy and then makes the team better for it.  Through 3 seasons with AU, she's never had a penalty.  Caitlyn's sportsmanship, smarts, hard work and talents have made us better, and been the very reason we still have a team.

#19 -- Dillan Madara, ROWAN

Dillan Madera started out the year on the defense, but stepped up to learn a new position when the team needed her to. We lost one of our forwards in the middle of the season, so to keep the lines balanced, our coach asked Dillan if she would play center.

She didn't lead the team in scoring, but she perfectly played the role in which she was needed. She relearned our system and figured out where she needed to be and when she needed to be there flawlessly. Dillan had perfect chemistry with the other girls on her line, leading to some highlight reel worthy give and go plays. She was our MVP because she stepped out of her comfort zone to help the team.

#5 -- Andie Plumeri, RUTGERS

Andie transferred to Rutgers this past fall and has been a powerhouse player from the get-go. She somehow manages to be everywhere at once--blocking off a player, then driving down the ice to take a shot on the net. During a game, it's not uncommon for her to be sick on the bench, but she never misses a beat, pulling the fastest changes and refusing to give up the puck without a fight.

Not only does she play a mean defense (and score some crazy goals), she passes to everyone and is genuinely invested in helping others improve their abilities: Andie's always the first one on the ice and helps out however she can--whether it's running drills, running errands, or running for treasurer (and winning the position!). She takes time at practices (and on her own time, during free skate sessions) to coach our newest players on things like skating and shooting technique. Needless to say, she's an integral member of our team, and we wouldn't be the same without her.

#11 -- Jane Wissmann, NAVY

Jane began playing hockey mid-way through her freshman year.  She took to the sport very quickly and became a vital player on the ice by being able to fill any position the team needed.  Over this past season Jane accrued 4 goals and 1 assist and spent time in every position except goalie.  This adaptability proves Jane’s athleticism and passion for the sport and team.  By being able to adjust to any position on the ice, Jane exemplifies her character and sets a good example for those above and below her.

#21 -- Effie Xistris, COLUMBIA
