D2 Sportswoman of the Year

Christine Dullnig -- USNA

.

Christine Dullnig is nominated for the outstanding Sportsmanship award. In 2 years, she has become the hardest working Center on our team. Her demeanor on the ice is do the job asked, play the game hard but not chippy, congratulate opposing players for good plays, and compliment opposing teams in the handshake line, win or lose. She shows dignity under all circumstances, respect for others on her team and the opposing teams, referees, Coaches, and administrators. She shows her maturity, kindness and her love of hockey in every practice, game, and off-ice drills. She refrains from disrespectful trash talking, taunting, and intimidating behavior toward opposing teams..

Christine is a second year player who was placed into service as our the first line Center this year due to Military orders. She is very competitive and focused during the game, but she always finds a way to help out her line mates and her team to get through difficult times. She not only respects the game of hockey, but respects opposing players as students of their schools who strive to do their best for the game. Christine’s display of good sportsmanship represents us well at the Naval Academy, and shows us all, that hockey is also meant to be fun.

Abigail Smith -- CU

Abby Smith has been an integral part of our defense for the past two years. This season she has demonstrated her versatility on and off the ice by proving herself as an offensive force at center and helping to bring this team together by acting as treasurer for our financially challenged club.

Abby always has a positive attitude on and off the ice even when times are tough. She is the first to smile and lift the team's spirits after a tough loss. Her contagious happiness is invaluable to our team.

Beth Kiley -- VU

It is with great pleasure that we have nominated outgoing senior Beth Kiley from Long Island with the Nova Sportmanship award. Nicknamed, “Short Stuff” she brings the Big Stuff when it comes to being there, working out and playing the game with true sportsmanship on and off the ice.

As Team President and a new player upon arriving at Villanova, Beth has worked hard on her game as well as helping out with the mundane tasks like driving the vans, dealing with Nova and being creative in the massive effort to coordinate fundraising.

It was a fitting end to her career at Nova to score her 1st and our last goal v St. Joe’s to ensure a 3-1 win in their kickoff scrimmage while being 1 of only 6 skaters we could get to commit to play last Sunday. She will be sorely missed by all of us.

Caitlin Adams -- IUP

Caitlin has displayed the maturity, tenacity and integrity for the sportsmanship award. As a senior she sets an excellent example and acts as a calming influence in the heat of battle.

Katie Sines -- SRU

Katie, is the captain and emotional leader of this team.  When something needs to be done, she is there to do it.  When a challenge as thrown at her, she overcomes.

Katie, leads by example and creates a positive, can do, attitude that sets an example any coach can admire.
