D1 Top Scorer

Becky Dobson -- WCU

.

Becky was outstanding on the ice all season. She lead our team in  all aspects. She lead the league in scoring and finished in the top 4 in the country in scoring. Becky also showed great class through out the season. She kept her cool after being suffacted by many teams gang defense. Becky also was a good team leader who worked with everyone on the team no matter the talent level.

When you think of MVP you think of who was the best player? No, you think of a team and what they would be with out that particular player. I am sure if I had to prepare a team to play against west chester with out  a doubt I would come up with a game plan to shut down Becky. I am not sure if there is another player in our league that you have  to do that against.

Danielle Malysa -- UD

Danielle Malysa is currently a sophomore at the University of Delaware.  Using her freshman year to take a break from hockey, Danielle came onto the team as one of the strongest forwards the team has ever seen.  She fulfills the role of center for the Lady Blue Hens and is a very well-rounded player.

She led the team in points for the entire season, finishing with 19 points.  Danielle’s contribution of 12 goals and 7 assists just adds to her profile as a leading scorer and a highly valuable player to the team.

Iris Irwin -- AU

A defensemen leading her team in goals and points, is a rare gem, but Iris is much more to AU.

Beyond taking the brunt of our scoring on her shoulders, Iris was elected our youngest captain and led the team on and off the ice with poise and true grit.

A stand-out talent, positive force and hard worker, Iris is the fastest on the ice and plays with determination and a cool head.  She's a leader of whom we could not be more proud.

Maggie Cearley -- UVA

For UVA High Scorer, UVA recognizes defenseman Maggie Cearley.  Magmo scored 10 goals and 10 assists in 12 games played this season, including a hat trick against powerhouse WCU.

She finished the season +19.  Magmo is an incredible two-way player who executes with both power and finesse.

Marissa Dwyer -- UPENN

Marissa was a great leader this season--everyone on the team looked up to her. She led the team in goals by a large margin, but she was always humble about her scoring.

When Marissa steps out onto the ice, the pace of the game increases by a noticable amount. She never seems to tire, and she's constantly motivating the rest of the team with her enthusiasm.

She is a true team player, and she has worked very hard this season to keep the UPenn team together. She ran almost every practice, and built a team out of barely 10 skaters.

Megan Cooper -- CAL

Megan Cooper's play this year as a freshman elevated Cal U hockey to a new level and gives a great hope for the future moving on without star players like Tiffany Juha and Kim Montgomery.

She led the team in points, goals, and plus/minus and we have high expectations for Megan as she moves forward with our program!

Megan is a player that does well in any offensive situation and makes good decisions with the puck in order for her team to benefit offensively. Megan is our high scorer of the season.

Monique Burgers -- UMD

Mo was the girl we turned to when we needed a goal. She was able to pull off the ridiculous shot that shouldn’t have gone in.

While others in the league may outscore her, Mo’s goals always came when the team needed a reprieve. When others were giving up and it showed in our game play. She’d get the puck and muscle her way up the ice, saving her moves for the goalie before stuffing it home and renewing the team’s hope. She was the team’s energizer and she never gave up.

Stephanie Johnson -- UMD

Stephanie has the most level head of anyone on the bench. As a fast center, she is usually the first one into the offensive zone, and is usually the target of the other team. Despite this she has never retaliated, and often calms down teammates in similar situations.

Her composure is due to her love of the game and her unwillingness to let the cheap shots hinder her in any way. She also strives to keep her own play clean, and uses her speed as an advantage when back-checking.

Off the ice she gets along with everyone on the team and is willing to help anyone who asks. Stephanie is also one of the few girls to keep things consistently positive on the bench. Even when the score is against us and we can’t catch a break, Stephanie channels her frustration into action and never turns on her teammates.
