D2 Top Scorer

#23 -- Alyssa Agati, RU

Alyssa was the leading scorer in the regular season this year, leading the league in goals (16), assists (8), tying for +/- (14), and the most points (24).

Simply put Alyssa was tenacious and driven; she would not be denied. Her aggressive style of play coupled with her hockey skills and skating style were nothing short of impressive.

She gave her heart and soul to Rutgers Women’s Hockey this season, as well as to the DVCHC. It truly was a pleasure to have the opportunity to coach her this season.  As a result she was awarded as being the best player in the league according to her stats. I believe it is only fitting that the league recognizes her accomplishment with the High Scorer Award.

#10 -- Brittany Gross, UPENN

There is without a doubt who the UPENN Women’s Ice Hockey teams Most Valuable Player is once the final buzzer ended our season in the championship game. Gross is a student first, with her love in the Veterinarian field; however, her second love is ice hockey and more importantly playing with her Quakers on the ice. Last season, Gross was our teams play-off MVP, and when the season began this season it looked as though she would be great asset to a very highly talented new crop of players coming in. Knowing that we recently added former Amherst College Captain to our team (Emily Vitale), a handful of strong defensewomen, and young edgy freshmen; Gross knew that she would be grouped around some highly skilled players. You may think Gross would hide in the shadows, but no she certainly did not. Gross led her line with young freshmen and eventually would be needed to carry the team. During the season, the Quakers had half a dozen of injuries and losses. Losing Vitale second semester, three top defenswomen, and most importantly losing our captain/president. Gross put the Quakers on her shoulders and led them to the championship game with a group of novice skaters. Besides the numbers that Gross would put up in the regular and post-season, her actions off the ice speak more of a talented MVP. Motivating and showing the young and older players on the team what it means to be a team itself. Gross is very deserving of the MVP award this season.

#5 -- Nikole Gregoris, IUP

Nikole led our team in assists and points, averaging  over three points per game. She is an integral part of our power play and penalty kill. Nikole is a solid player with an uncanny ability to find the open ice and back of the net. She is a leader both on and off the ice serving on the board of our Women’s Ice Hockey Club.  Nikole is dedicated, hardworking, and driven to succeed and our team is fortunate to have her as an Assistant Captain.

Kathleen Marinzulich, SJU

Kathleen Marinzulich is a freshman at Saint Joseph’s and a new member to the hockey team.  Kathleen has played organized ice hockey throughout her life and was a huge asset to the team this season.  Kathleen skates with such finesse and has great skill.  She led the team in points this season and worked hard every shift.  Kathleen is the definition of a selfless player.  She wanted to help the other players on the team develop their skill and would provide helpful tips during practices and games.  Kathleen was a strong presence for the team on the ice.  With her powerful skating and her skill, she was always determined to set up her teammates in the offensive zone.  She strived to create opportunities for the team to score, but was always right there to back the defense up as well.  Kathleen knows what it is like to be a part of a hockey team.  She puts the team first and supports her teammate’s efforts.  She is a respectable and reliable player and an overall exciting player to watch.  She loves the game and loves the team.

Kathleen is not only a great player on the ice, but off the ice as well. She is always willing to lend a hand.  In just her freshman year Kathleen has had a major impact on the team and will only grow from here.  She deserves to be recognized for her hard work and for being a leader on the team.
