Most Valuable Player

The 2019 Most Valuable Players - Danielle Felicioli (Rowan) & Erin Dougherty (SJU)

Danielle Felicioli - Rowan

Dani never took a shift off the ice, minus her 14 penalty minutes of course.  She had 23 points, scoring 14 goals and 9 assists, Danielle stands in 3rd in the conference in points. Danielle proudly wears an A on her jersey this year. Danielle won 2nd team all-athletic for the ACHA in 2019.

Erin Dougherty - SJU

Erin has been a valuable part of St. Joseph's team for her last for years. The last two years she was the club's president. She gracefully handled our scheduling, recruiting, and helped out at all practices. She helped many new players start and most of those players have stayed with the team. She did all of this while being a full time student and a part time employee. She even received a job offer after graduation from this employer.

Nominees

Jessica Chicko - Loyola Maryland

Jessica led the nation in goals as a freshman and had her season shortened by injury this season, but could have matched last year's numbers in a full year. She also took on more responsibility defensively for a young team and sacrificed her own statistics to get it. There are scorers who you can't find a place for, and there are those you can, and she's firmly in the latter. Everyone on our team asked at one point or another to play with her, and that's because she embodied everything that we were proud to have on our team at Loyola this year and going forward.

Hope McGivney - Montclair

Hope is an inspiration to all, an extremely versatile player who played forward defence, and even goaltender. There were games this season that Hope never came off the ice. Never once did she complain and she always competed with every ounce of energy she had Hope is the heart and soul of our team and definitely a player we couldn't have done without. Hope is the most deserving player that I know of.

Chelsea Henry - Towson

Chelsea has been a pleasure to coach this year. She is a seasoned hockey player and always gives 100%. Although she is a defensive player by choice, I was able to move her to a forward position on several occasions to show her true potential.  She willingly does whatever is needed to assure the best outcome for her team. She is extremely vocal, a leader and favorite amongst her peers. She rarely misses a community service activity. Carries a 3.875 GPA.

Kayleigh Rahbany - UPenn

Kayleigh, a two-time captain, lead Penn and the DVCHC in goals and points, and was third in assists in the league. Her character is becoming of a true leader in that she ensured as many players on our roster had at minimum one point this season. Every new to hockey player that remained healthy this season either scored or assisted on a goal. In no way was this selfless act required, but it became a challenge for a talented player through a very mentally and physically challenging league schedule. Kayleigh, a senior, has been an asset to the Penn Hockey Program, amassing over 100 career points across three seasons.

Sarah Jane Graham - Villanova

Sarah Jane is the current President of our team for the second year as a senior. She is also the current captain of the team, voted on by teammates. Her leadership skills on and off the ice make her a strong team leader. Since freshman year she has not been afraid to lead by example and vocally. She has been a huge part of having high morale is always encouraging the girls to do their best and at the same time giving the team someone to look up to. She has made her addition to the team felt by being a versatile team member. This season due to injury and other conflicts the team has been short defensemen. Sarah Jane has stepped up to play defense when others are not available. Sarah Jane is a trustworthy center as well as defensemen and is willing to play a different position each shift as needed. Under her presidency Sarah Jane has lead the team to finish second in the DVCHC. She lead the team to have a successful second semester season even with 3 girls, including our goalie, going abroad and players having to deal with family matters and injury. She’s always happy and optimistic whether the team is losing or winning and will always make everyone feel included. She will provide motivation during the game especially when the team needs to regroup. Even though both games in playoffs this season were lost in OT she made sure to keep the team motivated throughout all 65 minutes of hockey. She will drop anything and do hockey related things or assist anyone on the team in any way in the drop of hat.

Kaitlyn Brendlinger - IUP

Kaitlyn is a different kind of hockey player.  She has the ability to see things from both a player and coach’s perspective.  She has only played with us for two seasons, but for those two seasons, she is one of the players the that the coaches can always turn to.  She played her first season with us as defense.  While she was holding down the blue line, she was always able to see what the new players were doing and always give them pointers on how they could improve their game.  This year as a center, Kaitlyn was always willing to play with the new girls and push them to improve.
As an assistant coach this year, Kaitlyn really excelled in that role.  If a player was struggling, it was always Kaitlyn who took them under her wing.  She was also willing to lend an ear to anyone who needed it, even the coaches.  Kaitlyn made very few mistakes as a player, and when she did, she owned up to them “I know better, why did I do that?”
Kaitlyn had 13 points this season, 7G, 6A, second only behind our captain.  But, as anyone who knows the game of hockey, sometimes it’s the small things that matter the most.  It was the small things Kaitlyn did on and off the ice that really solidified her as our team’s MVP.

Maria Giambruno-Fuge - Lafayette

Maria always has our backs and is a brick wall in net as well as an awesome team mate. Our team would not do nearly as well without her support and talent on and off the ice. She is an incredible goalie and the star of every game!

Taylor Bright - Slippery Rock

Throughout the season Taylor exemplified phenomenal leadership and play to guide her team to go above and beyond their goals. Whether it be a forward or more defensive role, Taylor never hesitated to step in and help the team. Along with her role as captain on the ice, Taylor acted as the club's president by coordinated with other team leaders with great sportsmanship.

Sarah Walshak - UVA

Without Sarah, the UVA team would of fallen apart. With the loss of our rink, we were not sure we would even have a team this year, but Sarah made it happen, making sure everyone who was still at UVA returned to the team and making sure everyone was able to get to Richmond for practices. After stepping down as president for the spring semester, Sarah still worked to make sure the team ran smoothly, making sure everything was going well, even when she was unable to attend.
