Abby New shines with the hat trick, U.S. Naval Academy more productive at shooting to shut down their opponents on the road

Shutting out the competition, U.S. Naval Academy beat Liberty University 7 - zero at Lahaye Ice Centre on Saturday. U.S. Naval Academy scored three goals to jump in to the lead in the first period. U.S. Naval Academy gained two straight goals in the second period and held on to its lead. U.S. Naval Academy never looked back. In the final period U.S. Naval Academy scored two unanswered goals adding to their overall lead and winning the game.

Turning in a great performance for U.S. Naval Academy, Abby New got the hat trick with four goals. During the first period, with 16:11 left New netted a goal with an assist from Tina Byrne. Adding another score for U.S. Naval Academy, New scored another goal without any assistance with 15:03 left in the first period. Then New lit the lamp with 8:28 left in the second period. Abby Chek and Tina Byrne assisted on this goal. Continuing their roll, New put the biscuit into the net with 3:16 left in the third period with an assist from Tina Byrne.

Having a perfect day, U.S. Naval Academy's Nicole Breen made five saves to get the win. Liberty University's Leanne Niemi had only 52 saves on 58 shots on goal and got the loss.

U.S. Naval Academy added to their current win streak of three games and now has a record of 6 wins and 2 losses. Liberty University ended the game with a record of 0-10.
