Stephanie Johnson slaps two goals and University of Maryland scores two goals in the first, goes on to prevail on the road

University of Maryland beat U.S. Naval Academy 5 - 1 at Centre Ice Rink -- Harrington in DE on Sunday. University of Maryland racked up two unanswered goals to take the lead in the first period. In the middle period, University of Maryland outscored their opponents by one goal and kept the lead. The University of Maryland defense took over in the final period. In the final period University of Maryland scored one goal cementing the lead and winning the game.

In the first period, University of Maryland got things going when Corry Clark put the biscuit over the goal line with 16:34 left in the period. Stephanie Johnson and Abby Stephens assisted on the goal. University of Maryland turned up the pressure when Lisa Perlow put the puck in the net with assists from Marlee Finestone and Hannah Spooner, with 4:04 left in the period, to pull further ahead. In the second period, applying pressure from the power play on the ice, Stephanie Johnson lit the lamp with an assist from Marlee Finestone with 16:18 left in the period, to get further in the lead. U.S. Naval Academy's Abby New netted an unassisted goal with 13:50 left in the period. University of Maryland's Corry Clark got the puck past goalie Nicole Breen with an assist from Emily Summers, with 1:59 left on the clock, moving further into the lead. In the third period, next, Stephanie Johnson netted a goal with an assist from Corry Clark, with 0:57 left on the clock, to move further ahead.

Showing off a strong stick, Stephanie Johnson got two goals for University of Maryland and also had one point. Having a good day, Corry Clark scored two goals for University of Maryland and also had one assist. Lisa Perlow tallied one goal for University of Maryland. Marlee Finestone got two helpers. Summers, Stephens, and Spooner each added one assist for University of Maryland.

Abby New added one goal for U.S. Naval Academy.

Displaying a golden glove, University of Maryland's AJ Faust finished with 33 saves to take the win, despite being outshot 34 to 29 by U.S. Naval Academy. U.S. Naval Academy's Nicole Breen had only 24 saves on 29 shots on goal to get the loss.

University of Maryland continued their current win streak of three games and ended up with a record of 9-6. U.S. Naval Academy ended the game with a record of 8-4.
