Kelsey DeNardo smashes the hat trick and California University of Pennsylvania goes for offense to shut down the other side

Shutting out the competition, California University of Pennsylvania defeated U.S. Naval Academy 10 - zip at Centre Ice Rink -- Harrington in DE on Monday. California University of Pennsylvania chalked up three goals to jump in to the lead in the first period. California University of Pennsylvania added three straight goals in the second period and held on to its lead. California University of Pennsylvania's defense shut down U.S. Naval Academy for the rest of the game. In the final period California University of Pennsylvania scored four goals padding its lead and winning the game.

Displaying a great scoring touch, Kelsey DeNardo made the hat trick with three goals. With 6:58 left to play in the first period DeNardo got an unassisted shorthanded goal. Pounding the defense, DeNardo got a second goal with 10:12 left in the second period with an assist from Margo Laboon. During the third period, with 16:00 left DeNardo lit the lamp with an assist from Megan Cooper. Turning in a great performance for California University of Pennsylvania, Dana Bowersox scored the hat trick with three goals and also had one helper. During the first period, with 15:47 left Bowersox scored a goal with assists from Melissa Heisler and Hayley D'Hondt. Pounding the defense, Bowersox lit the lamp with 13:07 left in the second period with an assist from Hayley D'Hondt. California University of Pennsylvania turned up the pressure when Bowersox netted a third goal with 6:48 left in the third period. Alli Paratore got the assist on this goal.

Turning in a perfect performance, California University of Pennsylvania's Maria Sciacca stopped 24 shots to take the win. U.S. Naval Academy's Nicole Breen had only 44 saves on 54 shots on goal for the loss.

U.S. Naval Academy ended the game with a record of 8 wins and 5 losses.
