West Chester Advances, Faces PSU for a National Title, TODAY

UPDATE:

After a 4-3 win over the University of Alaska, the West Chester Golden Rams are headed to the ACHA championship game, today at 1:15pm.

Down 0-3 at the start of the 2nd, West Chester seemed to be clinging to the ropes against the West's #1, Univ. of Alaska.  Not these Rams.

In the 2nd period, captain Amanda Vito scored on a powerplay then ace Becky Dobson scored two (including a shorthanded tally) to tie the game.  In the 3rd  Dobson would strike again, recording her 12 goal of the tourney and her 60th ACHA goal this season.  Alaska poured it on, (pulling the goalie on a powerplay for a 2 man advantage in the final minute) but could not break the signature protection provided by the WCU defense and Aly Golia.

The DVCHC champions have made it to the ACHA final four!

West Chester's Golden Rams finished 2-1-0 in pool play with 13 goals and 3 against to advance into the national quarterfinal.

Follow their progress LIVE, below at 5:45pm!

Captain Amanda Vito and her dogged defense have stifled shots in front of Aly Golia who shutout the West for 121 minutes straight.  Together they've been responsible for 7 periods of playoff perfection.

Of the team's 13 goals -- the most in pool play -- powerhouse Becky Dobson is responsible for at least 8. Dobson, who finished 1st in every DVCHC offensive category this season, continues to impress.

Tonight the Rams take on the University of Alaska (2-1-0) for a shot at tomorrow's championship.  UA lost their first game to Penn State (2-1) but rebounded with shutouts over two DVCHC squads.  The West's 1st seed, Alaska has tallied 8 goals and let in 2.

Cal U (1-1-1) and Delaware (0-3-0) have been knocked out but can certainly head home with heads high.  After stand-out seasons as two of the best teams in the East, each squad played amazing do-or-die hockey in Virginia.  We haz a very proud!

GOOD LUCK TONIGHT LADIES!
