Slippery Rock University will host two games against the University of Virginia, the first time the two have ever matched-up in the same division.
Slippery Rock finished 4th in the North last year behind 3 powerhouse teams that have since left the league. With that heavy ceiling gone, could they rise to the top?
UVA has been rebuilding since a massive graduation in 2011. Though short on numbers, the team is well-coached and hungry for another banner to add to their storied history.

Slippery Rock hosts it's 1st DVCHC opener this weekend
Beyond the excitement of a new season, the game will carry a special significance that strikes close to home.
Designated an official Breast Cancer Awareness game, fans will be able to purchase $2 awareness ribbons or $1 bake sale items. All proceeds will go towards helping a close friend of the home team, Mrs. Keerikoolparn -- diagnosed with cancer just this month.
"I know things have been hard on the family," says SRU ace Christina Pastucha who helped organize the effort to help chip in for chemotherapy and surgery costs.
As a league, we're excited for the season, wish SRU and UVA the best and place our thoughts & donations with the Keerikoolparns. We encourage all fans to do the same.
