League Looks to NYC for an Epic First

As many colleges depart for Fall Break, the reigning DII champs are packing their bags for the city that never sleeps.

Slippery Rock travels to face Columbia University this Saturday and Sunday in 102 minutes of hockey that include the first DVCHC game ever played in New York, the country's most populated metropolis.

Beyond the location, the two game series will mark a historic step for the CU Lions -- the start of their first DVCHC season.

That introduction could prove challenging.  Since winning the DII Championship in February, Slippery Rock has laid claim to the Crab Pot trophy and thrashed IUP in a 9-0 win last weekend.  Columbia, no doubt, looks to put a stop to that trend in their first meeting with the Pride.

The fact that this is the only DVCHC match-up of the weekend only  heightens the drama.  All eyes are on DII's surging champs, the league's newest addition and the amazing city that will play backdrop.
