D1 Sportswoman of the Year

#42 -- Amanda Brawley, SRU

Amanda has played on the SRU for the past 4 years.  She is a senior defensewoman who selflessly stepped in mid-season as goalie.  Amanda assisted in getting SRU to the playoffs and championship game this season.   She is also a role model off ice.  Amanda is a mentor/coach for NOVA Cool Cats, a Virginia based hockey team for mentally challenged youth.  She also finds time to be an ice hockey referee.  Amanda is a caring, well rounded individual who inspires others to realize their talents and potential, on and off the ice.

#2 -- Carly Buckholz, UVA

Always upbeat, always positive.  Carly is an outstanding ambassador for our team and our sport on and off the ice.

#30 -- Kim Do, NAVY

It is clear that Kim Do loves hockey, her teammates, and competition. Kim shows her sportsmanship by seeing the inherent value in both her teammates and the opposing team. She never has a negative thing to say about a person. Kim stays humble; she is quick to give the credit to her teammates and coaches for her incredible improvement this season. Kim is able to rise above game-time emotions and play hockey for the love of the sport.

#17 -- Katarzyna Dziadosz, RUTGERS

Kat's love of the game and commitment to the club really can't be matched. She is the type of girl to stop play and help an opposing player off the ice. Kat has taught us all a lesson or two on fairness and gamesmanship and we're looking forward to learn more next season.

#27 -- Meghan Farley, VIL

Farley has a priceless quality of making friends wherever she goes. She has become an ambassador for new players, and new recruits. Farley stands over 6 feet tall on skates, and could be mistaken for our team enforcer, which couldn't be further from the truth. Farley always puts her teammates first, which includes another one of her valuable assets: leading our team in assists.

#34 -- Beth Kennedy, TOWSON

.

Beth is both captain and president of the Tigers. Beth is a very hardworking young woman.  She absorbed everything she needed to learn to get this team and club off the ground.  It was a lot of hard work on her part and put a lot of time into creating the team to make women’s ice hockey an option for students at Towson University. Beth’s determination, willingness and effort to start this program while being a full-time student is amazing.  Beth holds herself and the club to a very high standard and ensures that every policy and procedure set forth by Towson is followed. The standard that Beth has held the team to certainly contributed to the numerous successes the team achieved during its inaugural season. She has always thought of all players before herself. Beth truly cares that everyone on the team is welcomed and treated equally and fairly.  She is aware of on and off ice situations and always strives that things are right. Beth’s ability to communicate and work with the league, the sports clubs organization, other teams, individual players, and coaches demonstrates her versatility when working with a wide variety of people. Continuing to play this game is her desire and honoring her Team, Coaches, Opponents and Officials with respect is how she approaches the game. On the ice, Beth keeps a controlled focus. She has accumulated zero penalty minutes the entire season as well as having 5 assists and netting 3 goals.
