D2 Rookie of the Year

#7 -- Rache Kirsch, IUP

Rache has been an outstanding rookie for IUP. Her season consisted of 1 goal and 3 assists totaling 4 points. She has been playing hockey for 5 years total and 1 year for IUP. She was never afraid to double shift or cover any position on the ice that needed filling. Her dedication had encouraged others to push themselves, especially during drylands. She pushed through any difficulties she had, like her hypoglycemia. Rache even spent days when there were no practices, helping her teammates who would come to open hockey with her. She truly is one of the more dedicated rookies the team has seen.

#9 -- Jess Pareja, SJU

This year was Jess’s first year on the team. Although she was freshman, her personality and skill soon made her one of the leaders on the team. During Jess’s first practice the entire team knew that she had great potential and that she’d be a great addition to the team. It is Jess’s confidence on the ice that makes her stand out so much. From day one Jess was never afraid to skate the puck or try something risky. These actions not only make her a better player, but also encourage others to follow her as an example. Jess finished the season with fifteen overall points, nine goals and six assists. We all look forward to see what Jess has in store for next season.

#19 -- Haley Sheehan, AU

Haley's first year was a difficult one for our squad, but it would have been so much worse without Haley.  Beyond her quick improvements at defense, Haley brought a sense of fun and positive energy to the bench.  Often protecting goalies with limited experience, Haley would give give her all, shut down plays in front, if things didn't go as planned, she would talk up her goalies through every difficulty.  She was an important voice in the locker room, on trips and at practice - positive, inclusive & an essential part of our team in this, her first year as an Eagle.

#62 -- Kylie Stauble, PHOENIX

Kylie is new to our team this year, but fit in with the existing squad as if she had played with these girls for years. A fun loving young lady, who always has a smile on her face, Kylie’s laid back hockey style could best be described as a deceptive yet relentless pursuit of non-stop aggression. She has proved herself to be a tough competitor, who enjoys her shifts on the ice more than most. Wearing the chosen #62, Kylie had many important and memorable moments in her first season with the North Jersey Phoenix that helped us achieve our first division title, and a place in the DVCHC finals for the 2nd year in a row. It should also be mentioned that Kylie enjoys a beer every now and again, and really enjoys balloons and decorations around her locker when it’s her birthday.

#21 -- Effie Xistris, COLUMBIA

Effie possesses all of the qualities necessary to be a great hockey player.  More specifically, she has amazing talent and an unwavering work ethic. Every time Effie stepped onto the ice she put forth her very best effort, inspiring those around her to be better. She joined the team as a new player and made an instant impact on the team. Her hard work and determination on the ice led to many good opportunities for not only her but the rest of the team.
