D1 Top Scorer

#8 -- Kaila Frazier, TOWSON

.

Regular Season: 8 GP, 34 PTS  (16 G, 18 A), +25

Led the league in scoring for the third straight year.  Kaila graduated in December and still had enough points in the 8 games she played to win her third title.  Kaila has always led the team in scoring and the league form the first moment she played.  But her true goal was to have more assist then goals in a season.  She felt that was a more complete and team player.  After scoring 33 goals and 19 assists her first year, and 27 goals and 17 assists her second year.  She met her goal this year with 16 goals and 18 assists.  Kaila has a career best 149 goals on 89 goals and 60 assists.

#8 -- Sonja Klumpp, UMD

Regular Season: 10 GP, 33 PTS  (19 G, 14 A), +3

2016 Playoff: 2 GP,  3 PTS (0 G, 3 A)

Sonja joined the Terps this year and was a pleasant surprise for the coaches.  Sonja had a great understanding of the game and good fundamentals.  She was one of our quieter freshman off the ice when we started the season but her presence on the ice was certainly not the same.  Sonja ended the season with 33 points leading the entire UMD team.  Sonja was not only an offensive power house but she was also one of our strongest players in the D zone.  Sonja was also a key part of the Terps success on power plays netting more goals than anyone else on the man advantage.  As the season went on Sonja stepped up into more of a leadership role and we look forward to what the next 3 years will hold for Sonja’s hockey career with the Terps.

#14 -- Jacqueline Denning, VIL

Regular Season: 11 GP,  28 PTS  (19 G, 9 A), +7

2016 Playoff:  3 GP, 7 PTS (4 G, 3 A)

Jackie has been one of the most significant contributors to the team for the past three years.  Her top scoring abilities are demonstrated every game as players watch in awe as she generates powerful offense as a defenseman and carries the puck with confidence.  She acts as a leader on and off the ice, as everyone looks up to her and admires her skill.  Jackie is inarguably one of the most talented players in the league and her athletic abilities are not exclusive to hockey.  She is a member of the Villanova women's varsity rowing team and after hard work and skill, made the top varsity boat this season.  She is extremely dedicated to both teams and is successful in managing time to dedicate herself to both.  In hockey, no matter what team we are playing or what the score is, she keeps a positive attitude and remains determined to rise to the occasion, impress us all, and get the puck in the net.  During the rowing season, after running into some various hardships with a new coach, Jackie did not let anything deter her as she urged the team to stay focused and dedicated; proving to be a true leader on both squads.  This type of leadership ability combined with skill is the reason Jackie is our team captain.  Our goalie Alex began playing hockey this year and Jackie was the first to volunteer to help her feel comfortable in the new position by not only helping her get comfortable with the equipment in the locker room but also helping her to get comfortable with positioning on the ice.  Alex made it a point several times to mention that whenever Jackie is on the ice, she is not nervous at all, because when Jackie is on the ice, we know we are in good hands.

#5 -- Lindsay Gioioso, LOYOLA

In her second year with the team, Lindsay continued to prove herself as a force on the ice. She often found herself on the ice for most of the minutes of every game, and from goals to assists, it felt as though Lindsay touched the puck as part of every play. We were thrilled with her growth as a player this season, and look forward to all she has in store next year!

Regular Season: 12 GP, 24 PTS  (15 G, 9 A), -13

2016 Playoff: 2 GP, 5 PTS  (3 G, 2 A)

#19 -- Chelsea Phipps, SRU

Regular Season: 7 GP,  21 PTS  (14 G, 7 A), +2

2016 Playoff: 3 GP, 5 PTS (2 G, 3 A)

CHELSEA HAS BEEN THE LEADER OF THIS TEAM SINCE SHE JOINED US THE PAST TWO SEASONS. HER FIRST TWO SEASONS WAS WITH CAL U OF PA.

IT HAS BEEN SUCH A PLEASURE AND A BLESSING FOR THIS TEAM SINCE HER ARRIVAL.

#20 -- Rachel Brock, UPENN

Regular Season: 11 GP, 14 PTS  (9 G, 5 A), +4

2016 Playoff: 2 GP, 4 PTS (1 G, 3 A)

Ending the 2015-16 season with 18 points, Rachel Brock played every shift with grit and determination. Her physicality along with her puck-handling prowess and sniper skills made her dangerous anywhere in the offensive zone.

As skilled as she was, she was also a selfless player, oftentimes setting up plays and assisting her teammates with scoring opportunities. Therefore, Rachel deserves the High Scorer Award not only for her contributions to the score sheet, but also for her efforts in assisting many of our first-time players in scoring their first goals.
