D1 Most Valuable Player

Becky Dobson -- WCU

.

Becky was outstanding on the ice all season. She lead our team in  all aspects. She lead the league in scoring and finished in the top 4 in the country in scoring. Becky also showed great class through out the season. She kept her cool after being suffacted by many teams gang defense. Becky also was a good team leader who worked with everyone on the team no matter the talent level.

When you think of MVP you think of who was the best player? No, you think of a team and what they would be with out that particular player. I am sure if I had to prepare a team to play against west chester with out  a doubt I would come up with a game plan to shut down Becky. I am not sure if there is another player in our league that you have  to do that against.

Brie Scolaro -- UD

Brie Scolaro is currently a junior at the University of Delaware.  She has been the Lady Blue Hens’ starting goaltender since her freshman year.  Always solid force in between the pipes, Brie has always served as the team’s most valuable player.

The team looks to Brie for motivation and a player that can make game-changing plays.  Brie led the DVCHC and all of ACHA, in save percentage this season. She finished the year with a very impressive .95 save percentage.

This past season, Brie also allowed the fewest goals in the DVCHC.  As a dominant player for Delaware, Brie still continues to improve her skills on and off the ice.

Carolyn Desrochers -- UMD

Carolyn possesses the true spirit of competition. She puts everything she has into her game and strove to improve herself this season. As assistant captain she was a leader both on and off the ice. She set the example to the girls who were new to the team and lead by example.

When others took a practice easy because there were no games coming up, Carolyn showed up and skated as if we were playing in the championship game. She consistently gave back to the team and always made herself available to anyone who wanted to talk.

Carolyn is our wild card. One minute she’s our enforcer, willingly going hard into the boards in a scrum for the puck, and the next minute she’s carrying it end to end for a chance at the net.

Kim Montgomery -- CAL

Tiffany Juha-Senior (F) and Kim Montgomery-Senior (fall) Grad Student (spring) (G). Both were and are outstanding in their capacity to pick a team up and carry them on their back and force others around them to be better and more accountable as a team.

Both were captains on the team this year and led in one category or another in their respective positions. Both Tiffany and Kim were consistent in their efforts both on and off the ice, which transcended to their on ice productions for the personal standards in which they hold themselves to personally and academically.

Both Kim and Tiffany led the way at DVCHC playoffs in their play, Tiffany earning 10 points in 3 games. Both are outstanding young ladies that deserve to be Co-MVP's from California University of Pennsylvania for this season.

Lindsey Arturo -- UVA

For Most Valuable Player, UVA nominates forward-turned-goalie Lindsey Arturo.

When starting goaltender Jill Scovanner left to study abroad in January, we were left in a dire situation.  Lindsey, having never played net in hockey,  stepped up, donned the pads and not only saved our season, but helped the team win 5 games in a row, including a SO in her second appearance between the pipes.

She finished the regular season with 5 wins in 5 starts, a .916 save percentage, and 1.40 GAA.  Lindsey’s heroics played a huge role in helping UVA secure 3rd place in the DVCHC regular season standings.

Regan Alsup -- AU

No one would ever guess that Regan started playing hockey last year. While her background in figure skating has given her a phenomenal stride, it is her sharpness on defense that makes her hockey so great. Her angling is years ahead of where most new players should be, already top level in the DVCHC.  She is never afraid to get a girl in the corner or take charge in the crease and come away with the puck.  All while skating beautifully with only 2 penalties all season.

Regan was often 1 of just 2 or 3 defensemen on the ice, due to roster issues.  Her endurance and tenacity, despite only a handful of breaks, kept us in games.  Off the ice she's our president and is always there to help or organize.  Reliable and dependable, AU hockey would not be what it is without her.

Sohee Cha -- UPENN

Sohee Cha took over the position of goalie halfway through our regular season, after 2 of our other goalies were injured in consecutive games. The position was not the most desirable to any of our players, but Sohee stepped up without hesitation, sacraficing her position on 2nd line offense.

Sohee hept us in a lot of games throughout the semester, pulling off some amazing saves and showing incredible dedication to the position. Not having Sohee in net could have cost us the rest of our season, and so she is every bit deserving of the "Most Valuable Player" award.

Tiffany Juha -- CAL

Tiffany Juha-Senior (F) and Kim Montgomery-Senior (fall) Grad Student (spring) (G). Both were and are outstanding in their capacity to pick a team up and carry them on their back and force others around them to be better and more accountable as a team.

Both were captains on the team this year and led in one category or another in their respective positions. Both Tiffany and Kim were consistent in their efforts both on and off the ice, which transcended to their on ice productions for the personal standards in which they hold themselves to personally and academically.

Both Kim and Tiffany led the way at DVCHC playoffs in their play, with Kim allowing no more than 3 goals in 3 games against very tough, nationally ranked opponents. Both are outstanding young ladies that deserve to be Co-MVP's from California University of Pennsylvania for this season.
