D3 Most Valuable Player

2017 DVCHC D3 MVP OF THE YEAR: ANDIE PULMERI!

#5 – Andie Pulmeri -- Rutgers

Everyone knows good things come in small packages. That’s an understatement. At just five feet tall, this brave player packs a powerful punch. Andie back-skates faster than most players front skate. She dangles even the most professional skaters. She can hold back a three-on-one for longer than a person can hold their breath. Not only has she blocked countless shots on our net, but she leads the Rutgers team in goals. She’s the Wayne Gretzky of DVCHC and the heart of our team. She never backs down from an opponent, no matter their size. She juggles school, preparing for the LSAT, and her treasurer duties like a pro. She's always there to help out, whether it's guiding a struggling teammate during drills or being a wonderful friend and a shoulder to cry on. She’s an outstanding defensewoman, an inspiration to our team, and an all-around star.

#67 -- Jess Wright -- Rowan

Not only was Jess our most valuable player, but our funniest, caring, strongest and silliest player! Jess was our leading goal scorer this season, and finishes her hockey career as Rowan's leading point scorer. She helped lead the program to two championships in our first 4 seasons and really help build the program to what it is today. She filled multiple roles and always did what was best for the team. Aside from hockey, Jess was also a star leader of Rowan's NCAA track and cross country teams and will return as an assistant coach next year for them.

#7 – Sydney Flemister -- SJU

There are many ways in which a player can add value to her team. There’s the obvious on-ice, statistical value via goals, assist, and plus/minus production, but then there’s also all the things that don’t show up on a scoresheet. Like personally organizing all the off-ice workout routines, providing a vocal spark when her team’s in need of that extra push, and having not one, but two family pets at the ready to greet us all at the bus after hard fought playoff battles. Syd added all of the above, and then some.

Over the course of her career at SJU, she netted somewhere in the range of a bajillion goals, and served up at least as many assists. This (obviously verified and legit) statistical fact alone might be enough to merit MVP honors, but coupled with fact that she also acted as our Swiss Army Knife of Getting Stuffä Done makes her a pretty easy choice.

#4 -- Alexa Jaume -- UPenn

Alexa is definitely MVP of the season.  Both on and off the ice, she's an essential player and leader who gives her all to the team. As a defensewoman transitioning to a much needed center, she conquered face offs and showed everyone just how versatile she could be.  As a co-captain, she was an integral part of scheduling ice times, communicating with the DVCHC and Club Sports Department, and organizing off ice practices.  She made it her mission to make sure that everyone was improving skill wise and felt that they were a part of the team.  Alexa is a key team player, inspiring leader (without showing off), and our MVP.

#7 -- Raché Kirsch -- IUP

Raché is not only our outstanding Defensewoman nomination but also our nomination for MVP.  This season we only had four returning players when the season began (only 3 skaters.)  Raché took on the role of president this year with exceptionally and untimely short notice.  She truly rose to the occasion.  She helped to recruit many new players and even convince some previous players to come back and play.  On the ice she logged more minutes than any other player by far, served as our captain and really broke out of her shell.  As a rookie a couple years ago Raché barely talked and was very shy.  This year she was called upon to lead and did so admirably.  She faced many difficulties both on an off the ice but always managed to find a way to persevere.  She logged more minutes than any other player on our team this year, really reformed her already outstanding play to be more mindful of penalty taking, and lead by example with a truly young and malleable group of players.  Raché was an amazing leader, player and teammate.  We quite literally would not have had a team without her and therefore she is easily our MVP.
