  • LITTLE BIG BENCH

The Terps won 7-4 and 8-4, besting Virginia in a two game weekend in Charlottesville. Maryland's depth is quickly becoming aparent, 1/2 the team has 2 points or more. The Hoos are winless but strong (and having fun). Though winded by a barebones roster, Carly Buckholz & Jennifer Morgan lead w/ 4 points a game. It makes things tough -- Rookie Hannah Latham has already seen 122 shots in 3 games.
  • READY TO RISE

The North Jersey Phoenix are a little more than 24 hours away from the start of their 1st college season. ...can you tell they're excited?
  • FUN FIRSTS

On the verge of their 1st, ever college hockey game, The NORTH JERSEY PHOENIX shared a photo gallery with images from their inaugural pre-season. The new team is short on numbers but large on heart (and clowns :P). We're ALL excited to see them hit the ice running! http://womens.dvchchockey.org/gallery/photo/show/937158?gallery_id=685093
  • JERSEY SCORE

The WAR BETWEEN THE SKATES fundraiser has reached 99 fans, raised $4,900 for teams, & spread to 26 states! Of those NEW JERSEY has been the most supportive (39 fans) AND contested as NJ Phoenix & Rowan battle for control. 7 days remain in the WAR -- rep your state, help them skate!
  • HEAD OF THE CLASS

UPENN and Saint Joe's both began their season at home, facing off in the Class of 1923 rink they share. UPENN (11-2 since the start of last season) won bragging rights but both teams showed off their new depth. Each of the game's 8 goals were scored by a different player! SJU's Julie Stephano stopped 42 shots in the closest match-up between these teams in years!
  • 'MID' MORNING

A photo from the Naval Academy team & reminder that a hockey life is often one spent in the wee hours: "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead! Beautiful sunrise after a morning practice on the ice. Hooyah Navy Ladies!!!!
  • JERSEY STRONG

Rowan's 1st women's ice hockey team has started the season 2-0. Led by Jessalynn Wright's 5 goals in 2 games and backed by Elizabeth Ditzel and Samantha Mazzi's quality goaltending, the squad will host IUP this weekend to decide who will stay in 1st place.
  • ROWAN MAKES IT 2

American University began their first D2 season and Rowan picked up a 2nd win to start the season 2-0. The thrilling game that was tied until the 3rd and saw 44 saves on behalf of AU's Sara Lemanski, was also a chance for these two teams to express mutual respect & sportsmanship. Read the glowing report here: http://prohockeynews.com/ice-hockey-that-warms-the-heart/
  • IT'S GOOD

Kerry Irion scores a penalty shot against the Naval Academy in the game Sunday. The goal, just 1 of Irion's 5 that night, put Towson up 6-5. Navy would tie it 5 mins later and add 6 more in the exciting 3rd period conclusion.
  • THE FIRST

Towson's 1st game as a team came last Sunday at the US Naval Academy. The Midshipmen started their season with a strong 12 goals but the Tigers, tiny bench and all, clawed out 8 and had the game tied till the 3rd. Arguably the most exciting game of the season thus far, the newly minted Maryland rivalry is off to a great start!
  • LEAFING FOR THE EAST

The ladies of IUP are loving the Fall, and for good reason! The Hawks started the season 2-0 with 21 goals and 1 against. Every one of their 10 skaters recorded a point against Columbia. The team makes like a tree and leeeaves for the East this weekend behind newly elected captains Melissa Zehe, Nikki Gregoris & Megan Henry.
  • IT'S FALL, Y'ALL

Team Navy enjoys an outting at Larriland Farms earlier this month. The team is off to a 1-0 start. 2-0 if you count all the winning pictured here.
